The Soldier's Wife Does Not Cry
This painting depicts the plight of a war widow, who is held as a symbol of sacrifice by the entire nation, for having given up her life-partner. This woman cannot be called a widow, says the nation, because a soldier who dies on the battlefield is not considered dead, but "Amar" - immortal. This woman cannot shed tears for the grief tearing her up from within, because that would not suit the widow of a brave soldier. Her eyes will always be full of unshed tears.
